High School (W)rap Competition: Design Contest

Crime Stoppers National Capital Area launches design competition for talented youth

Crime Stoppers to sponsor “(W)rap Competition”

Ottawa, ON and Gatineau, QC – Monday, March 15, 2010 – Crime Stoppers National Capital Area today unveiled a new competition amongst the four regional school boards.  The competition is aimed at high school students in Fine Arts and Design to create an exterior wrap for a recently acquired vehicle.  The vehicle, which is actually a “retired” ambulance, will be used to take the Crime Stoppers message out to the community and will be seen in parades and other community events throughout the National Capital area.

The (W)rap Competition, which ends Monday, April 12, 2010, is an initiative of Crime Stoppers Youth Committee, who will select the winning design. The winner will receive a $500.00 cash prize, amongst credit through the Crime Stoppers Web site and other promotional activities.

The competition was the idea of the newly appointed Crime Stoppers Youth Committee.  The committee was recently formed in an effort to work with youth in crime awareness and reporting.

“We recognize the importance in helping and working with youth in the assistance in crime resolution, and we are actively ramping up efforts in bringing our messages to the schools through career fairs and live presentations with the police,” said Keith de Bellefeuille Percy, Chairman of the Board of Crime Stoppers National Capital Area. “Further to our efforts, this design competition is a way for creative youth to get involved with Crime Stoppers in a positive way, while ultimately helping us further promote our mission. It’s a win-win opportunity for the youth and all the citizens within the community.”
